After settling into your luxurious tented accommodations, you’ll have time to relax and soak in the beauty of your surroundings. As the sun sets, join your fellow travelers for a warm welcome and a delicious dinner, setting the tone for the days ahead.
Days 2-3: Immersing Yourself in Khwai or Shinde
Over the next two days, you’ll dive deep into the unique ecosystems of your chosen camp’s location.
If you’re staying in the Khwai Community Area, you’ll experience thrilling game drives through this wildlife-rich region. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, hippos, and predators like lions and leopards. Guided mokoro rides along the Khwai River offer a peaceful exploration of the waterways, revealing hidden wonders like tiny reed frogs and vibrant birdlife.
For guests at Shinde Camp, the focus shifts to a mix of water-based activities and land-based safaris. Your last two days are filled with opportunities to connect with Botswana’s wilderness in a deeply personal way.
At Kala Camp in the Okavango Panhandle, your activities include fishing for tigerfish (season permitting), birdwatching, and boat trips along the maze of waterways. The Panhandle is particularly famous for its cultural experiences, giving you a chance to learn about the traditions of local communities.
At Kanana Camp, the focus shifts to the Delta’s seasonal floodplains. Birdwatching is a highlight here, with opportunities to spot rare species like the Pel’s fishing owl.
