Day-By-Day Itinerary
Day 1 - 3
Wilderness Little Kulala — eleven chalets on a private 27,000-hectare reserve with a gate of its own onto the Sossusvlei dunes. You are standing in Deadvlei in the first light, long before the day visitors have reached it. Afternoons belong to the plunge pool outside your door, and when the heat goes out of the day your bed rolls out onto the roof deck and the sky does the rest.

Day 3 - 5
Strand Hotel Swakopmund, where the cold Atlantic and the desert edge meet in a landscape like no other. Mornings here carry a cool ocean mist, and the town offers its own gentle pleasures — fresh seafood, colonial-era architecture, and the long beach stretching in both directions. It is a welcome shift in scene, and a beautifully paced pause between wilder chapters.

Day 5 - 7
Wilderness Doro Nawas — built low into a rock outcrop with the Aba-Huab valley opening out in front of it. This is desert-adapted elephant country, animals that walk further between water than anyone thought elephant could. The rock engravings at Twyfelfontein are close enough for a morning, and on clear nights the beds move up onto the roof.

Day 7 - 9
Horizon by Ongava — a private reserve along Etosha's southern boundary, and that boundary is the point. Here you can drive after dark and leave the road, neither of which the national park permits. Days belong to Etosha's great waterholes; evenings belong to the reserve itself, where both black and white rhino live.

Day 9 - 10
The Weinberg Windhoek Gondwana Collection Namibia, where comfort and hospitality offer a gentle counterpoint to the expansive landscapes beyond the city. A proper bath, an excellent dinner, and the particular pleasure of both after ten days of desert. Time to sort through photographs and notice how quiet the country has made you, before the world starts up again tomorrow.
