Day 1: Arrival at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Your unforgettable adventure kicks off with a warm welcome at Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. For the Standard Option, you’ll check into Ilala Lodge for a two-night stay, just a short stroll from the falls. This charming lodge offers the perfect spot to relax and take in the stunning views. For those choosing the Deluxe Option, you’ll stay at the luxurious Thorntree Lodge in Livingstone, Zambia, just a short distance from the falls. Once you’ve settled in, you’ll have time to explore the falls, take a guided tour to learn about their fascinating history, or opt for a tranquil sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.
Today is all about discovering the power and beauty of Victoria Falls. You’ll take a guided tour to get the best views and learn about the history and geology of the falls. For the more adventurous, optional activities like a helicopter ride over the falls or a thrilling bungee jump from the bridge can add a bit of adrenaline to your trip. Enjoy a relaxing evening at the lodge and reflect on the day’s adventures.
After breakfast, you’ll head to Botswana’s Chobe National Park, famous for its large elephant herds. For the next two nights, you’ll stay at Chobe Elephant Camp (Standard) or Chobe Chilwero Lodge (Deluxe), where you can enjoy game drives and boat cruises along the Chobe River. These activities give you the chance to get up close to wildlife such as elephants, lions, and hippos. The park is teeming with life, and every safari outing offers a new surprise.
Today, you’ll have a full day to explore Chobe. Start with an early morning game drive where you might catch the predators in action. In the afternoon, head out on a boat cruise along the Chobe River, a great way to spot elephants, crocodiles, and various bird species as they gather at the water’s edge. After a day of exploring, relax back at the lodge and enjoy a delicious dinner while watching the sunset over the river.
Next, you’ll fly into either the Khwai Community Area or the Okavango Delta, depending on your safari option. Standard guests will enjoy two nights at Pom Pom Camp in the Okavango Delta, while Superior guests will stay at Khwai Leadwood, a luxury tented camp in the Khwai Community Area. Both locations offer amazing wildlife sightings and an intimate, nature-focused experience.
At Khwai Leadwood, you’ll enjoy game drives and walking safaris, which allow you to connect with the environment in a unique way. In the Okavango Delta, the focus shifts to water-based activities, such as mokoro rides, which take you through the Delta’s tranquil waterways. Either way, you’ll experience the incredible diversity of wildlife and landscapes that make this region so special.
Whether you’re in Khwai or the Okavango Delta, your day will be filled with incredible safari experiences. Early morning game drives and walks allow you to spot everything from elephants to wild dogs. You’ll have plenty of time to soak in the beauty of your surroundings and enjoy the exceptional hospitality at your lodge. In the evening, gather around the fire for a delicious dinner under the stars.
On your last full day in the Okavango Delta or Khwai, there’s no shortage of ways to immerse yourself in the stunning landscape. Whether you’re at Rra Dinare Camp in the Okavango Delta (Standard Option) or Atzaro Okavango Camp (Deluxe Option), you’ll have the chance to try new activities, like a guided bush walk to learn more about the delicate ecosystem, or a scenic flight over the Delta for breathtaking aerial views. If you’re in the mood for relaxation, simply unwind by the campfire and take in the serene surroundings. Every moment here brings you closer to the heart of this unique environment, where wildlife and nature coexist in perfect harmony.
Your last day in this magical part of Botswana starts with one final early morning game drive or mokoro ride, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot wildlife as it begins its day. After the morning activities, you’ll have some downtime to relax and soak in the natural beauty around you. The lodge staff will ensure your last day is special, with a leisurely atmosphere perfect for reflecting on your safari experiences. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner as you share stories of the week’s adventures with your fellow travelers under the stars.
As your 9-day adventure comes to a close, you’ll head back to Maun for your return flight home.
