Day 1: Discover Tanzania's Captivating Wildlife

Dar es Salaam

After you’ve completed the necessary international arrival procedures, we’ll greet you and transport you to your hotel for the evening.

Once you’ve settled in, and if your schedule allows, you can take a stroll through the city’s vibrant spice markets and museums, take a refreshing dip in the nearby azure waters of the Indian Ocean, and unwind on the pristine white sandy beaches, basking in the tropical warmth and sunshine. Later, you can indulge in a delectable traditional East African dinner at nearby dining spots.

Alternatively, you can explore the hotel’s amenities and treat yourself to a relaxing spa or gym. You can cap off the day with a cultural or international-style dinner right at the hotel before drifting into a restful night’s sleep.

 

Day 2-4: Exciting Wildlife Adventures Await

Ruaha National Park

After a refreshing rest and a delightful breakfast, we’ll arrange your transfer to the airport for your flight to Ruaha National Park. You’ll have the opportunity to admire stunning aerial views of the landscapes before landing at the airstrip, where a guide will be waiting to greet you, assist with your luggage, and accompany you on a game drive transfer to the camp.

Ruaha National Park is famed for its incredible sightings of large predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, and hyenas. The park also boasts diverse wildlife, such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. It is one of Africa’s most well-preserved and pristine wilderness areas.

Usangu Expedition Camp is strategically situated near the high-water mark, ensuring ample shade from the surrounding miombo woodlands. With just six cozy guest tents, the camp provides an intimate and exclusive experience in this largely undiscovered wetland region. The camp’s design is simple, focusing on the immersive and exploratory aspects of the adventure, with meals prepared over an open fire and enjoyed under the captivating African night sky.

You can partake in boating excursions along the waterways teeming with birdlife, explore the expansive grasslands during the dry season, or opt for a night under the vast African sky. The late afternoon offers a perfect opportunity to venture out on foot and witness the sunset while sipping your favourite drink overlooking the Usangu Wetlands.

Day 5-7: Kokoko Camp

After enjoying breakfast and bidding farewell to your hosts, you’ll embark on your only surface transfer of this journey, travelling by road to your next remote and secluded safari destination.

This expedition-style tented camp, exclusively reserved for just six guests, promises an incredibly intimate safari led by one of our top guides. Each day concludes with enchanting stargazing sessions, and dinners prepared amidst the riverbed, surrounded by twinkling lanterns and the wild symphony.

Day 8-11: Embark on Your Water Adventure Safari

Nyerere National Park

Upon arrival at the nearby airstrip, you will be warmly welcomed by a guide who will escort you to the camp.

Roho ya Selous is nestled on a small peninsula overlooking Lake Nzerakera, within the heart of Nyerere National Park, the largest reserve in Africa. This park is renowned for its significant population of wild dogs alongside a diverse array of wildlife, including crocodiles, lions, leopards, hippos, elephants, black rhinos, buffaloes, and over 400 species of birds.

Unwind in the open-air dining and lounge areas with canvas roofs, surrounded by wildlife and a good book, or take a refreshing dip in the pool during the afternoon. Indulge in afternoon tea before embarking on a sunset cruise on the lake, enjoying a delightful G&T or your beverage of choice. In the evening, gather around the campfire with fellow guests to share stories from the day before enjoying a delicious dinner amidst the bush sounds.

Roho ya Selous offers a cozy stay with just eight stretch canvas tents, each featuring en suite hot showers, flush toilets, and a cooling system for a comfortable night’s rest. The camp’s name, “Roho ya Selous,” translates to “heart of the Selous,” reflecting its prime location within the reserve. It provides seasoned travellers with an authentic safari experience that seamlessly blends adventure and comfort.
