Sesriem Campsite
Sesriem Campsite lies inside the park gate at the entry to Sossusvlei, a short drive from Sesriem Canyon, where centuries of erosion have cut a narrow gorge about 1 km long and 30–40 m deep, with pools that refill after good rains.
It is made for campers: sunset over Elim Dune, a sky that fills with stars, barking geckos and the distant call of jackals — then up an hour before sunrise to drive into Sossusvlei and watch the dunes change colour.
Sesriem takes its name from the pioneers who tied six lengths of rawhide thong (riem) together to draw water from the pools. There are 24 campsites, with a fuel station, convenience store and secure parking.
