Where to stay in the Zambezi Region
Bwabwata National Park covers 6,100 km², with core areas on the Okavango and Kwando rivers. It has large concentrations of elephant and buffalo, sitatunga along the river, sable, roan and wild dog, and more than 450 bird species.
The region is part of KAZA, the Kavango Zambezi conservation area shared by Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Caprivi Region was renamed the Zambezi Region in 2013.

Getting there
Rundu to Katima Mulilo is 510 km on the B8.
Wattled Crane, African Skimmer and Pel's Fishing Owl are among the birds of Bwabwata.
The Okavango drops about 4 m between Divundu and Bagani.
The Kavango regions and Zambezi are malaria areas. Prophylaxis is recommended: ask your doctor before you travel.
Seasons
When to go
Summer runs from October to April and winter from May to September. In Nkasa Rupara the flooding varies from year to year.

Is the Caprivi worth the drive?
