Onguma The Fort

Onguma Nature Reserve · Moorish-style fort on the eastern edge of Etosha

Onguma The Fort rises like a desert mirage on the eastern edge of Etosha — a Moorish-inspired stronghold of stone, leather and African artistry, looking out across the saltpan from the private 35,480 hectare Onguma Nature Reserve.

Twelve individually styled suites are carved into the fort's walls, each opening onto a private terrace with uninterrupted views across the bushveld. The boma, fire-lit dining hall and pool deck all face the setting sun.

Days are spent on game drives through Onguma and into Etosha National Park via the Von Lindequist Gate, returning to sundowners on the fort's elevated ramparts as the desert turns to copper.
