The Lodge
Wilderness Serra Cafema
Wilderness Serra Cafema sits under verdant trees on the banks of the Kunene River, on Namibia's border with Angola and in one of the most secluded corners of the country. Its home is the 300,000-hectare Marienfluss Conservancy, owned primarily by the Himba, with the Hartmann's Mountains and Hartmann's Valley as its backdrop. The camp takes its name from the Angolan mountain peaks on the horizon.
This is a place to disconnect, unwinding to the sound of rushing water and the silence of the desert. Days are spent on nature drives, walks among the area's geological formations and low-impact guided quad-bike routes through the dunes, looking out for desert-adapted oryx, Hartmann's zebra and springbok. Water levels permitting, boat trips on the Kunene pass Nile crocodiles and riverine birds, and a visit to a Himba village is a chance to hear their stories and share yours.
Reopening 1 December 2026: Serra Cafema is closed while it is rebuilt and reopens to guests on 1 December 2026.
