Heinitzburg Boutique Hotel
Heinitzburg Boutique Hotel sits high on a hilltop above Windhoek, with views over the red roofs of the city to the hills of the Khomas Hochland. It is run by Beate Raith and her team, and the welcome is personal.
There are 16 rooms, each one individually designed, with air-conditioning and heating, satellite TV, a safe, a mini bar and a walk-in shower. The Superior rooms are larger, with a king-size bed and a seating area, and some look over the city.
Guests eat at Leo's at the Castle, an à la carte restaurant with views of the city, or on the open-air Garden Terrace, which serves light meals and cakes by day and sundowners as the sun sets. Below the castle, a wine cellar cut into the rock holds more than 12,000 bottles from South African estates.
