Thorn Bush Tented Camp
Thorn Bush Tented Camp is part of the Otjiwa Collection, on the Otjiwa game reserve in the Otjozondjupa region. It suits a quiet escape as well as a family trip or a few active days in the bush.
There are ten spacious tented suites, each with a private wooden deck looking over a quiet riverbed. They have air-conditioning, an en-suite bathroom and an outdoor shower. Two of them are family suites with adjoining bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
From camp you can track white rhino, ride horses across the plains, go out on game drives or spend a morning at a lookout with binoculars and a snack basket. There is a pool, and massages can be had in the spa or in your tent.

Game drives
Drives on the Otjiwa reserve with a chance to see some 25 animal species, ending on one of the reserve's mountain tops.
Rhino tracking
A morning out with a guide to get close to the white rhino that roam the reserve.
Horse riding
Rides across the plains of Otjiwa with the reserve's guides, who make new riders feel at ease.
Bird-watching
You are dropped at one of the lookout points with a snack basket and a radio, and a guide fetches you when you call.
Spa treatments
Massages in the spa and wellness centre or in the privacy of your room.
Ombo village visit
A trip to the village, where a local guide explains the history and culture of the Herero people, including their dress and buildings. Lunch is included before the return.

When to go
Dry months, roughly June to October, bring the animals to the waterholes. November to April is the green season: lush scenery, great birding and fewer visitors. Tap or hover over a month for more.
