The Camp
Zannier Sonop
Zannier Sonop is a tented camp at the southern end of the Namib desert, built on top of granite boulders above the plains. It is designed as a British colonial camp of the 1920s, furnished with antiques, colourful carpets and fine wood.
There are ten tents: eight with one bedroom and two with two bedrooms and a shared living room. Each has roll-up canvas sides for the views, a four-poster bed, a bathroom with a large bath, a rain shower and double vanity, a desk and a telescope, plus air-conditioning, heating and free Wi-Fi.
Every evening there is a five-course dinner in the dining tent, at the communal table or a table of your own. A pool, spa, gym and outdoor cinema fill the hours between nature drives, walks, horse rides and e-bike trails.

Eight 1-bedroom tents of 42 sqm and two 2-bedroom tents of 75 sqm, each bedroom with its own bathroom. Four-poster beds, a large bath with rain shower, a living area with armchairs, a desk and a telescope.

Things to do
Nature drives
Shared drives twice a day, looking at the light, the sociable weaver colonies and the quiver trees, with stops to walk with your guide.
IncludedWalking trails
Guided walks in the cool of the early morning or late afternoon, reading the geology and the life of the desert.
IncludedHorse riding
Rides from the camp stables up onto a red dune ridge, with a stop for coffee before heading home along the old riverbed.
Electric fat bikes
Marked White (easy) and Orange (harder) routes along the dune and the old river course.
Outdoor cinema
Classic films on a large screen by the pool, with homemade popcorn.
IncludedSossusvlei and balloon flights
A trip to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei that leaves camp at 04:30, and hot air balloon flights. Helicopter flights can also be arranged.
Nature drives, walking trails and the outdoor cinema are included in the all-inclusive rate. Ask us about prices for the other activities when you book.

When to go
March to May are the top months, with milder days. June to September is dry and clear with cold nights. October to February is hot, so go to the dunes at sunrise. Tap or hover over a month for more.
