The Camp

Atzaró Okavango Camp

Atzaró Okavango Camp sits in the NG 32 concession of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, surrounded by tall reeds, winding waterways and savanna grassland. There is no road in: guests arrive by helicopter, and the camp runs entirely on solar power.

The camp is a partnership between African Bush Camps and the Atzaró Group, a hotel company, and has ten rooms. The rooms are air-conditioned and come with an en-suite bathroom, an outdoor shower, a fireplace and a deck, and the camp has a pool, a spa, a gym and a bar.

Days are spent on morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, walks with a guide and, in season, mokoro trips through the shallow channels. Families are well looked after: the Ngwana Club keeps children busy with nature walks, cooking, storytelling and crafts.

Game drives

Morning and afternoon

Drives in an open 4x4 with your guide in the early morning and late afternoon, when the animals are most active, with coffee on the morning drive and sundowners in the evening.

Night drives

Drives after sunset to look for the animals that come out at night.

Walking safaris

Walks with a qualified walking guide, looking at tracks, insects, plants and the smaller life of the Delta.

Mokoro trips

Gliding through the shallow channels in a traditional dugout canoe, poled by a local guide.

The Delta is rich in birds; look for Pel's fishing owl, the African skimmer and the green heron.

Ngwana Club

For children

The camp's programme for young explorers, with nature walks, cooking classes, storytelling and arts and crafts, planned around each family.
