Day-By-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Your southern Namibia self-drive adventure begins in Windhoek, the country's easy-going capital, where colonial architecture, leafy avenues and a lively café culture set a gentle tone for the journey ahead. Settle in at Olive Grove Guesthouse, a tranquil boutique retreat in the heart of the city.
Spend your first afternoon collecting your 4x4, stocking up on supplies, or joining an optional city and Katutura township tour for a warm introduction to Namibian life and history.

Day 2
Head south into the iconic red dunes of the Kalahari, where rolling sand streets, golden grasses and camelthorn trees stretch to the horizon. Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch sits on the fringe of the southern Kalahari, surrounded by quintessential desert scenery.
Enjoy optional nature drives in search of giraffe, oryx and springbok, a guided Bushman walk, or a cheetah feeding, before toasting the day with a sundowner atop a dune as the sky turns crimson.
Your home for these nights is Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch.

Day 3
Continue south to the Keetmanshoop region, gateway to some of Namibia's most distinctive desert landscapes. Mesosaurus Fossil Camp offers rustic, characterful accommodation among ancient dolerite formations and quiver trees.
Explore the remarkable Quiver Tree Forest and the Giant's Playground, and marvel at 250-million-year-old Mesosaurus fossils — a fascinating glimpse into the deep history of this arid land, best enjoyed in the soft light of late afternoon.
Mesosaurus Fossil Camp

Day 4 - 5
Travel to one of Namibia's most dramatic natural wonders, the Fish River Canyon — the largest canyon in Africa and second in scale only to the Grand Canyon. Fish River Lodge is the only lodge perched directly on the rim, with uninterrupted views into the abyss.
Spend your days taking in panoramic viewpoints, guided canyon drives and rim walks, or simply soaking up the vast silence. Active travellers can tackle guided hikes down into the gorge before returning to the comfort of the lodge.
You'll be based at Fish River Lodge while you explore the area.

Day 6 - 7
Journey west to the rugged Aus Mountains, where granite outcrops, open plains and endless horizons create a landscape of solitude and silence. Klein-Aus Vista Eagle's Nest Chalets, part of the Gondwana Collection, are tucked among the boulders for a true sense of escape.
Choose from five scenic hiking trails, a sunset drive through the Sperrgebiet Rand Park, or a day trip to the coastal town of Lüderitz and the famous wild horses of the Namib near Garub.

Day 8
Follow the scenic gravel roads into the Tiras Mountains, a private biosphere reserve where red dunes meet dark granite peaks at the very edge of the Namib. Namtib Desert Lodge is a warm, family-run retreat surrounded by this untouched wilderness.
Settle into the rhythm of the desert with a guided nature drive or self-guided walk, and end the day under one of the darkest, most star-filled skies in all of Namibia.

Set out at dawn to climb Big Daddy, photograph the skeletal trees of Deadvlei, and explore the Sesriem Canyon, returning to relax beside the pool or unwind in the spa as the dunes glow at sunset.
For this part of the journey, you stay at Le Mirage Resort & Spa.
