Touch down in Windhoek and ease into Namibia's capital — a relaxed blend of German colonial architecture, modern African life, and excellent restaurants. Settle in at The Weinberg, set on a hillside above the city.

Spend your first day acclimatising — wander Independence Avenue, visit the Christuskirche, browse craft markets, or simply enjoy a sundowner from the Sky Lounge as the city lights flicker on below.

Your journey heads south to the edge of the Kalahari, a landscape of deep red sand dunes and ancient camel thorn trees. Bagatelle Boutique Farmhouse sits among savanna grasslands with views straight onto the dune line.

Optional activities include guided dune walks at sunset, cheetah feeding experiences, and stargazing under some of the clearest skies on earth.

Continue further south to the rim of the Fish River Canyon — the second-largest canyon in the world. Fish River Lodge perches right on the canyon edge, with breathtaking views straight across the abyss from your private deck.

Drive west to the wild Atlantic coastline and the colonial outpost of Lüderitz. Colourful Art Nouveau buildings, ocean views, and the haunting Kolmanskop Ghost Town — slowly being reclaimed by desert sand — give this stretch its unique atmosphere.

Spot flamingos, seals, and penguins on coastal excursions, or simply enjoy the salt air and quiet of this remote town.

Enter the heart of the Namib Desert. Hoodia Desert Lodge sits in the wide Sesriem valley with uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains. Early mornings are reserved for the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei, the white clay pan of Deadvlei, and the depths of Sesriem Canyon.

Optional hot-air balloon flights and scenic flights over the dune sea complete the experience.

Cross the Tropic of Capricorn to the cool Atlantic coast and the German-flavoured town of Swakopmund. Strand Hotel sits directly on the beachfront, with the desert rolling up to one side and the ocean stretching out to the other.

Optional adventure activities — quad biking, sandboarding, scenic flights over Sandwich Harbour — sit alongside coffee shops, breweries, and excellent seafood restaurants.

Head north into Damaraland — a region of red sandstone outcrops, dry riverbeds, and ancient rock art. Camp Kipwe is built around enormous granite boulders, with rooms that blend almost seamlessly into the rocks.

Visit the UNESCO-listed Twyfelfontein engravings, search for desert-adapted elephants along the Aba Huab river, and stand in awe of the petrified forest and Burnt Mountain.

Continue further north into the remote Kunene region. Opuwo Country Lodge sits on a high plateau with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and traditional Himba villages scattered across the plains.

Optional cultural visits to a Himba village offer a respectful, guide-led introduction to one of Africa's last semi-nomadic peoples — restorative, quietly exhilarating, and a day of welcome stillness.

Drive deeper into Kunene to the thundering Epupa Falls, where the Kunene River cascades through a series of channels framed by makalani palms and baobabs. Omarunga Camp sits right on the riverbank within sound of the water.

Settle into the rhythm of the bush — early morning walks, sundowners over the falls, evenings around the fire under a sky full of stars.

Cross south into the wilder, less-visited western side of Etosha National Park. Dolomite Resort sits dramatically atop a dolomite hill with panoramic views in every direction — a quiet, exclusive entry point to the great salt pan.

Game drives in this section feel intimate and remote, with sightings of elephant, giraffe, lion, and the rare black rhino against extraordinary backdrops.
